New Camera, hectic week, retail therapy!

Lindsay, Ashley, and I went shopping on Wednesday.... at Victoria's Secret. After some much needed retail therapy we went back to their apartment and talked to Brittany on the Web Cam. I am excited to see her when she comes out for Ashley's wedding. It's just not the same without her. So we had to take a picture of her as if she were with us. After the we talked to Britt Ashley and I went over to her new apartment so she could leave a note for brad to see when he got home from work/school. Actually we ended up, me watching a movie and eating Brad's Mike and Ike's while Ashley clean up after him.... She is too cute! (This is Ash showing Britt the card she made)

Busted!!!

So I took Ashley lunch at work today while I was on break. She and her sister Lindsay have started a new fitness routine that doesn't include foods like Costa Vida. So I tried to offer her a sandwich or something a little bit less unhealthy. But after not much persuasion she got me to give into bringing her a pork salad from Costa Vida insisting "Salads are healthy, right?" So we agreed that lunch would be our secret. But not long after I arrived with our lunch and we had started to eat Ash got a text message from Lindsay calling her a "cheater." Ashley stopped eating, looked up at me and said "SHE KNOWS! . . . Did you tell her?" I hadn't but I started to wonder if I had! But then the conclusion was made that Brittany must have spilled the beans on us (Love you Britt!). Oh Well I guess I shouldn't try and put something by Lindsay, she is just too smart for me!

I should be sleeping

So Jill, the mom of the family I nanny for had back surgery this morning and I had to be there bright and early to get the kids up and off to school. So I was going strong from 6:35-12:45 when I finally took a break and fell asleep in their spare bedroom. I was so exhausted that I let my nap go longer than the advised 20 minute power nap and was awakened an hour later by the oldest getting home from school. Well the nap felt wonderful and I am happy I got it, except that I have to be back their tomorrow at about the same time and I can't fall asleep! This week I am going to be really feeling it... with about twelve hour days every day, especially Thursday and Friday because the youngest (also the most attention hungry) doesn't have school so I won't get time off in the middle of the day, because he's the only one of the three that can't be left home alone AT ALL! I might have to request that Dave get home from work a little early. I don't know if I can handle it!

Corn Maze

I went to the corn maze at thanksgiving point tonight. It was pretty fun, but the maze wasn't as nice as I remember it previous years. We still had fun and I got to jump on the huge blow up bouncing thingy what ever it is. I have decided however, that my first order of business now that I have an income is that I need a new camera! No one had one tonight and I was so bummed. I was going to take lots of cute pictures to post but my poor camera has been dead for a while now. Maybe I'll start looking at sales!

Car Trouble

So I took my car to Midas to get the brakes fixed (second time in two months!!!! Grr I'm mad, at least it's under warrentee) well anyway, I told them about the popping noises it has been making and they looked over my car and discovered that the (i'm going to guess on the name i really don't remember) upper support arm ball joint was worn out and needed to be replaced! so $300 dollars poorer they are going to fix my car to not make loud noises! but the sad thing is that they couldn't get the part today. they had to overnight it from somewhere. Fortunately the Midas I took it took is being really nice about the whole thing and they are going to go in on a Saturday when they are normally closed to fix my car, my poor poor car! Well that means I'm out of a car for a day... but not really my employers are being really nice about it and they are letting me borrow their extra car until mine is fixed.... Yes, this means I will be a soccer mom driving a huge suburban for the weekend but at least i'm not stranded!!! Think good thoughts for my car this weekend!!!

Real Salt Lake

So on Wednesday night some friends and I went to a soccer game in Salt Lake City where we met Landon Donnivan and Lindsay and Ashley were just smitten by him... I told them they acted the way I would act if I met Brad Pitt but I don't think that even describes how excited they were to get their picture taken with their soccer idol! I need to get copies of the pictures to put up here so you can all see their huge smiles.

The Begining!

So I recently got my first full time job, and even though it might not be the most grown up job in the world (I'm a Nanny), I'm begining to feel more like an adult. I am also realizing that keeping in touch with friends and family that are moving all over the United States and beyond is getting more and more difficult. So when my friend Ashley told me that all of her family were setting up blogspots I thought it was a great idea!

I am finally getting a handle of my new job and I am learning to enjoy the joys and stresses of taking care of three very active, very independent kids that are not my own. I think that if I can make it through the year I promised to stay with this family I will be able to survive anything life throws at me, including possibly a classroom full of students, as the idea of teaching junior high history is becomming more and more apealing.

The family I work for live in Lindon, Utah. The parents Dave and Jill are very nice and very down to earth about their children. The do not assume their children are little angels and any problems must be my doing, in fact they seem quite the opposite.... the first day they told me that they were always only a phone call away and would be willing to put the kids back in line if they were not obeying me. The kids are nice and although I know we are going through an adjustment period I feel confident that we will come to a mutual understanding of one another. Jessica is 14, and everything a teenage girl normally is, slightly silly, a little self involved and entirely enamoured by the fact that I am older and a graduate of the university she is dying to attend. MacKay is 10 (almost 11) and while he does suffer from ADHD, and from a lack of respect for me, we do have our days of fun when homework's done and all he wants is to show off for me on one of his video games. Cole, the youngest is 6 and just started first grade. He tries his hardest to keep up with his big brother and gets upset when he is left out of the fun. We have lots of fun together when his brother isn't around and he finally has the chance to act for himself. I feel so honored to help Cole with his homework every day because I get to see his progress with difficult tasks such as learning to read and practicing penmanship. It is amazing how quickley they improve!!!

I am happy with my job because of it's challenges and rewards but I am extremely happy to be on my own for the first time. I am paying my own way, my rent, my groceries, their all me! It is really nice to have a little bit more a month than I am used to, I can afford to have the social life that I never could while I was in College! I think my favorite part of work though is coming home and the end of the day in being done, something that will not be the case if I become a teacher or when I have my own family so I am enjoying it for now! Me time has become my favorite time and I get to read books for fun, and go to bed early, and just enjoy life!

Well that's me for now! I'm excited for this blogspot!!!
