Old Lady Leary... FIRE!

My Comcast online account isn't working right and so I had to talk to an analyst online to try and get it figured out so I can pay my bill and it just wasn't getting fixed no matter what the analyst was trying to do to fix it. I thought maybe I was getting to a place where it might be fixed and what happened? The fire bell outside started going off and within 30 seconds that means that all the high pitched smoke detectors in the apartment started going off too. So of course this means we are supposed to evacuate! Boy was I not thrilled with that idea but there is no ignoring that noise. So I got my coat and keys and phone and quickly typed to the analyst that I had to leave because my fire alarm was going off. what does said analyst promptly do? she logged off and went on to the next customer! SO irritating! Well I made sure Kortney was really awake and getting ready to evacuate and we head outside. Guess what? It's about 10 degrees outside AND it's snowing. Which would be OK if I weren't in PJ's!!!! At least I had my coat. My Christmas PJ bottoms are NOT warm like you would think they should be. I had a scarf and blanket in my car that I went and got after about 5 minutes in that freezing temperature! I felt bad for one of my upstairs neighbors though... they had to carry the their baby (probably about 11 months) out at 12:05am in his sleeper with only a blanket around him to protect him from the cold and snow. I offered his mom my blanket for the baby but she said it was OK and luckily the alarm turned off and we were allowed to go back to our apartments after about 15 minutes in the cold. So thank you neighbor who started the fire. It was quite fun? no, exciting? no, interesting? no ANNOYING!! I'm sure you didn't do it on purpose though so I'll forgive you... once I can feel my feet again.

I'm a Gleek

I am IN love, and my love this time is a new television series. I will admit that I resisted at first. When Amy told me last summer that I HAD to watch the series premiere on Hulu I listened and put it on my queue but never got around to watching it before it expired. People kept telling me to watch it and I finally got around to it only because I was at a friend's house and she was watching it. It was like cupid shot me with an arrow as I sat down to watch. I swear this show was my life in High School (minus the singing although if there had been a Glee Club at Verdugo you had better believe I would have signed up in a heart beat). Anyway, we all know that I was, ok not was but am, a little geeky. These kids speak my language. My favorite character (so, you know the one most like me) is a girl named Rachel who is self proclaimed high maintenance, and not high maintenance in the super vain sort of way but the super bossy, loud, always right sort of way (look I'm growing, I can admit these things about myself), she has an amazing singing voice (something I wish I had), and she is kind of clueless when it comes to making and keeping friends, but somehow she has them anyway (in the sort of, we tolerate her way). I'll admit that I don't find myself like Rachel in EVERY way, just the ones that count. There also happens to be another character on the show who is a cheerleader (Cheerio) that is a closet show freak (Sound like anyone we know?). This character, Quinn, reminds me of my very best friend Brandee (except that Brandee didn't get knocked up in High School and I wasn't trying to steal her boyfriend). Brandee was a cheerleader, yes, but I think that she would have been happier in show choir if Verdugo had had one. Well the moral of this long rambling post is that Glee on Fox Wednesdays is AMAZING and I'm super sad that there won't be anymore new episodes till April. But when it does come back make sure you watch it! I don't know what I would do if it was canceled!!! Don't worry though, if you like me can't wait till April; the last five episodes of the season are on Hulu right NOW, and all 13 episodes will be on DVD on December 29. This is one TV series that I am more than willing to fork out mondo amounts of money for so I can own them all to my very own self.

Just a few memorable lines from Glee to end on:
Best pick up line ever: "How do I get you into my Hatchback?" (I'm so going to use this now that I have a hatchback)
About hairography: "It's like cool epilepsy."

That is all.

Merry Christmas!!

On Saturday, after our move, Kortney and went to pick out a Christmas tree for our living room. After we picked the one we wanted my favorite conversation of the day took place between us and the Home Depot worker. It went a little something like this:

Worker: So is this going on the top of a car or do you have a pick up to put it into? How are we doing this?

Us: Actually, we have a U-haul.

Worker: (stunned silence with a little bit of confusion on his face)

Us: We just got finished moving and thought we would take advantage of the truck since it's paid for anyway.

Worker: Oh good, I was worried you had rented it just for this.

Kortney and I were in hysterics for about an hour after this. I guess we were the first people he had ever seen get a tree in an empty U-haul. The look on his face was just priceless. i really really enjoyed putting that 7 foot tree in the back of an empty 15 ft truck though. Maybe next year I will rent a U-haul just to get my tree!
Remember.

New Apartment!!!

Kortney and I have moved!!!!

Kortney and I found a new apartment very quickly after we made the decision that we were not going to stay in our old one. Our new place is only about 3 miles from our old one which made moving easier and also means that (although we are technically two blocks out of the boundaries) we can still go to our same ward (one of Kortney's prerequisites). I absolutely LOVE our new appartment. It is bigger than our last one by almost 200 more square feet and the layout is more open and homey feeling. But the VERY best part? We have a Washer and Dryer!!! That's right no more storing up laundry and hitting up random friends/family members to do loads of laundry at their house! I might be a little over excited about this part of the deal but having lived without a washer and dryer in my apartment(s) for the last 6 years, I know how awesome they really are. I know I need to put on pictures but they are currently all on my phone. I'll take some with my camera once everything gets more settled.

Oh my!

Wow, has it really been over four months? Yikes! I'm sorry everyone I know that you all must feel deprived. I have a few excuses if you want to hear them.... The main one is that my computer freaked out and wouldn't stay on longer than two minutes and then I sent it to get fixed and it has been almost two months!!! I'm STILL not back to my trusty viao but I figured enough is enough.

Anyway, I don't really know where to start. Here's to trying!

The Arts

The end of June and the beginning of July I flew to LA to spend a week of vacation in the cheapest spot I know... HOME! I'm serious besides the few (maybe three places) I ate out and $10 in gas for Brandee to drive to Disneyland and the airline ticket I didn't have to spend any money! Now don't get thinking that just because my vacation was inexpensive that I didn't do anything fun! I flew in on a Saturday morning and that night my family and I went to see "Oklahoma" at the Glendale Center Theater. I got sick on Sunday, but still spent some time in the evening with friends and we ended up at the park, Brandee and I swinging and the Boys (Anibal, Christian, and Jason) pretending to be macho and run in between us with out getting hit in the head by our swings. I love how we might be 24-25 but we still are entertained by the same games we were when we were 4-5! Monday, after a trip to the doctor my mom and I got lunch, did some outlet shopping (thanks for the clothes mom!!!) and then met up with the rest of the family to see "My Sister's Keeper" which is good and a tearjerker but not as much so as the book (they changed the ending... hope I didn't ruin it for anyone). Let me see... Tuesday was the Getty Museum of Fine Art! I love all the museums in LA and especially since most of them are free except for parking (and we had a coupon so it was entirely free). After the Museum, Brandee Anibal and I headed of with our handy-dandy annual passports to the Happiest Place on Earth! I love putzing around Disneyland this year because with the passes we don't feel like we are wasting money to see the shows or just walk around and look at the sights! I finally went on the carousel in D.C.A. and we watched Fantasmic! and saw Dumbo flying a long the wires during the Fireworks while eating Dole whip (yum) and waiting to go into the enchanted tiki room (Brandee's favorite). I'm glad that I got to go home and remember a little bit why it was so amazing to grow up in a city where you could have so many different experiences in less than a week. I am glad that I grew up in a place that had art museums and lots of theaters, shows and cultural experiences to be had. I'm also glad that I had a family that valued these assets and made sure to take advantage of them.

Alondra's Bridal Shower

The other (but still important) reason I went home in June was to help my mom host a bridal shower for my amazing little sister (well she might as well be my little sister), Alondra! Alondra is getting married to Christian Johnson on August 1st and I really wish I could be there with her but at least I got to give her a shower like she deserved! Oh and I so claim points for them getting married because when they were 16 I told Alondra that they should date/get married. Ok, so it took a while for them to get together (he did have to serve a mission and grow up after all) but they are getting hitched now. I'm just a good matchmaker I guess. :) I am so happy and excited for you guys!

Club 33

Waiting to be buzzed in.

June 14, 2009

That's right I've been into the most exclusive place in my favorite place: Club 33 in Disneyland!!!
My friend's mom got reservations for her birthday and invited us to go with her! Club 33 is like nothing else in Disneyland, You have to be ring the doorbell and be buzzed in before your reservation and then head up the stairs (or old fashioned lift) to a really nice restaurant. the meal is pretty expensive ($79 a plate) but the food was a-MAZ-ing! They have a salad and seafood buffet that had crab and lobster and shrimp and lots of good fruit (The pineapple must have been straight off the plane from Hawaii because it was amazing!). I think I could have had a whole meal from just that little buffet table! But that wasn't even the main event! There were several choices for the main course but most of the 7 of us chose the Chateaubriand which is the MOST delicious steak ever. It seemed to melt in your mouth, almost like you didn't have to chew! After the main course there was another buffet table of deserts! I was in heaven. I think that I tried just about everything! The thing that Brandee, Anibal and I kept commenting on while we were there was that it didn't feel like we were in Disneyland at all! You had to look out the window to remind yourself where you were! It was a really crowded day at the park so it was nice to have the quiet restaurant to sit and relax in. I am so glad that I got to go to Club 33 before I died (I really never thought I would get to go!) Thank you Mary Kay for inviting me, and Happy Un-Birthday now!
The birthday girl, Mary Kay.

Really is the Happiest Place on Earth

Alive

I'm still alive I swear. I have a lot to post about summer too so I just need to make myself do it. Maybe tomorrow? :)

What to do on a stay-cation?

Last Thursday I was "sick" (OK I really WAS feeling a little under the weather) but mainly the weather outside was just TOO good not to enjoy. Also, I felt after working 68 hours the week before and only getting a one day weekend that it would be, uhm, not the end of the world if I missed one day of work... So I called in sick. Amy has Thursdays off as well so we decided it was play day! What did we do with our stay-cation? Better question - what didn't we do? So here are a list of things I recommend trying to squeeze into one of your days off (see if you can be as amazing as Amy and myself).

1. Go to the temple (you can get a lot done with a day when you start it off at 7:30 in the temple!) We have actually made this a weekly thing (at least we try our hardest).
2. Go out to breakfast - Amy and I went to Denny's this particular day but usually our Thursday mornings are a little more rushed so we settle for something like McDonalds .
3. Go home and relax/make yourself presentable and cute for a day off in the sun.
4. Visit the CUTEST fabric store known to man. I seriously am in love with this place now, Thank you Amy for having amazing ideas of things to do. Also, while at said cutest fabric store ever, buy cute fabric and a pattern to make Amazingly Awesome Ataches (I don't know if that's spelled right but I needed to go with the alliteration even if they really are purses). I am so excited about said purses! Don't worry you'll see them when they are finished!
5. Spend at least half and hour in a crazy random store (we chose Zurchers which is a party store). We each walked away with a 68 cent bottle of bubbles to play with.
6. SHOE SHOPPING!!! Zurchers happens to be right next door to a DSW and there was NO way we could just leave without even looking. We were good, and walked directly back to the clearance section where Amy proceeded to have every single shoe she tried on fall in love with her. That's right in love with her (she can pull off so many more shoe styles than I can). She however only felt "that way" about two pairs. Much debate went into which pair should be allowed to go home with her. A pair of blue wedges won and joined our happy stay-cation day.
7. Pei Wei!!! YUMMY FOOD!!! For those of you poor deprived souls who don't live close enough to visit one of these, let me just say this: Pei Wei is owned by P. F. Changs, has most of the same food, and is about half the price and much faster.
8. Luckily, we were smart enough to get our Yummy Chinese food to go because that way we got to have a picnic in the park where we enjoyed our meal, the sun, and the three fourtune cookies each we managed to snake out of the deal! There was a rather amusing story connected to the location of our picnic but I know that Amy wants to blog about that so I'll let her and just leave you with the best quote of the day that none of you will even understand: "What are they doing?" There, you all are now so currious to know that they were doing that you'll hound Amy to blog just as much as I always do.
9. After lunch Amy basked in the glorious sun we've been missing for the many long dreary months that are the Utah winter, while I flew my very own $1 Buzz Lightyear Kite!!!! It was amazing even if it didn't work very well because it wasn't that windy. Amy mostly laughed at me because it barely flew above my head but at one point I got it all the way to the end of the string to which it was attached before it came crashing down to the earth. We also played with our extremely worth it bubbles purchase.
10. SIDEWALK CHALK!!! The park also offered a good lo-cal to express ourselves artistically. I drew random things like islands and fish while Amy showed some true skill with an Elephant who was in love with a Ewe. We used some bright colors and got some color while we were at it.
11. Lisence Plates. I got my plates for my car in the mail like two weeks ago and I had been meaning to put them on. A day off is the perfect time, so I did, and now my car is official!
12. Uhm... more shoe shopping? That's right. So we took a couple hours break and Amy was still in love with that second pair of shoes (black heels that were a black and white fabric ribbon bow at the tows) plus she had convinced Aunt Lynn that these shose were much needed addition to a foot wardrobe, so we went back and bought them (or rather, Lynn bought them). I was being good and I didn't even bring my wallet inside with me, when a pair of lonely brown heels called out to me from their shelf... They wanted to be loved and I really wanted to provide that love. So even though I wasn't supposed to go out to the car no matter what, I did. My only defense? They were on Clearance of 50% off of an already low price...
13. Be thankful that you didn't spend any more money than you did, go home and enjoy the rest of the evening, because you have to go to work tomorrow.

NEW CAR

The same day I moved the furniture into my new apartment I also went out and bought a brand new 2009 Toyota Yaris!!! Isn't it so cute? It's so little! It gets great gas mileage (my last two fill ups were at 37 and 38 MPG). I can fit into just about any parking space. And the best part is to actually have a reliable vehicle! Don't get me wrong I loved the Honda I traded in for this one, but when I found out I needed to have my transmission rebuilt, it was just time to move on. And can I tell you just how much I'm LOVING the new car smell??? It's pretty much amazing.

I MOVED!!!!

On April 4th I got the keys to my brand new apartment that I share with my friend Kortney. Until the 17th however we had no furniture! I flew down to LA on the 16th, and helped caravan a U-haul truck with our furniture up to it's new residence in Sandy, UT. That's right I don't live in Happy Valley anymore! Well it has now been two weeks since we got our furniture into the apartment and it is beginning to feel like an actual home. Tonight Kortney and I finished hanging some of the pictures and moved a lot of junk out of the living room so it would feel less chaotic. I am so excited to be almost done with it all. We are having a house warming party on the 16th of May so it all has to be done by then. Having a cut off day is good for me. When there's a deadline I do better at getting things done. Tomorrow I think we are going to finish work on our dining room which really is already done except for a clock and then moving the last of moving debris out of it. Maybe this weekend I'll clean my room and take a picture of that for you all to see!

"I got a dollar, I got a dollar"

You know that feeling you get when you put on your coat for the first time all year and when you put your hands in the pocket you discover that you left your self a present in the form of cold hard cash last year? It's a pretty awesome high isn't it? Now I want you to think about how you would feel if you found a dollar you didn't even know existed! Last night before bed I was working on clearing out my self in the pantry, getting ready for moving day. I was going through and getting rid of old food and garbage like old receipts and such. While I was thus engaged I happened across a shinny silver package. It was flat and sealed and had obviously come out of some cereal box that had long since been finished and thrown away. My first thought was it's just garbage, probably a coupon for something I don't need to spend money on in the first place. I was going to just throw it away without another thought but something made me pause. Curiosity got the better of me and I had to open it and know what was inside. Boy am I glad I did! Inside was a crisp new one dollar bill neatly folded in fourths to be packaged. The rush of excitement hit me. FREE MONEY! And to think I thought it was just garbage. Just goes to show you you can't judge something by it's packaging. Same thing goes for people.

"I've always relied on the kindness of strangers"

Today was the Draper, UT LDS Temple dedication. I was lucky enough to get a ticket to attend a satellite broadcast of the dedication in the Marriott Center on BYU campus. I was really excited to go so when I woke up from my Sunday nap at 2:30 I got ready quickly and ended up getting to the Marriott Center just before 3:00. Now I didn't have to be in my seat until 4:00 so I decided that I would hang out in my car for a little bit and read a Magazine article that I had started at home and brought with me. I put the car in park and switched off the engine but I left my keys in the ignition (I bet you already know where this one is going). After about ten minutes when more people started showing up in the parking lot I decided I should go in and get myself a good seat. So I got out of the car, remembering that I wasn't allowed to take my phone inside, I stored it in the door pocket as I was getting out. I hit the lock button and shut the door. I was walking away when I thought to myself, "My purse sure feels light for just missing me phone." That's when I stopped. I know right then that my keys were sitting in the ignition of my car. I walked back to the car to be certain and there they were just dangling there taunting me. Now this is the time I would normally freak out because I don't have my phone or my keys. Luckily I kept my cool, managing to laugh at myself a little instead of getting as stressed as I normally would.
Enter: Taylor. Right about this time a car pulls into the lot and parks just three stalls down from me. So naturally I go and ask if I can borrow his phone to call AAA and tell him that I've just locked myself out of my car. He seems sympathetic and obliges handing me his phone. I open it up, and after some difficulty distinguishing which are the querty keys and which are the numbers I dial the 1-800 number and patiently make my way through the automated instructions and find myself on hold. While I'm waiting for my "Valuable" phone call to be answered I start telling Taylor about how if I could get to my apartment I have a spare set of keys I could use. This is when he offers, "Do you want me to drive you back to your apartment?" Now, I know what all of you are thinking "DING, DING, DING, ALLERT, ALLERT, RUN AWAY" but even though somewhere in the back part of my brain (the part that was trained very well by my parents and just from growing up in L.A.) I was hearing the same alarm bells, something told me it would be fine to accept the ride. This is the moment the thought hits me: "Your roommates are all in Boise for the weekend. You deadbolted the door and night locked the ballcony door. There is no way you can get into your apartment." But I also remembered that there is usually someone in the office on weekends when it is closed to handle situations like this. So I explain all this to poor Taylor, who I am sure is thinking "what have I gotten myself into?" by now, hang up on the AAA operator who just picked up and he drives me down to my complex and lets me run into the office to get the keys to my apartment.
No one's there. That's right I've now been driven back to my complex by this very kind stranger for no good reason. I can't get into my appartment and therefore can't get my spare keys and am now back to square one where I'll have to call AAA and wait even longer now becasue I didn't just tell them to come help me in the first place. Taylor seems nonpulsed. He drives me back to the Marriott Center and Parks as close to my car as he can in the now filling up lot. On the drive I remembered that the police will come and slim jim your lock for free but I don't have the number to call and don't have my fancy phone to look it up! At this point I tell Taylor that we should just go in and get seats for the dedication and I'll just deal with all of this afterwards. He agrees and walks with me into the building where we run smack dab into a BYU police officer. I tell him what's happened and he tells me that after the dedication to find an officer and they will radio it into dispatch for me. I'm still thinking to myself, "when is Taylor going to bail on me? He's done just about everything he can do for me and more...." but he doesn't! He tells the officer that he's going to stay with me afterwards to make sure that I have a phone to use if I need one and can get into my car safely. I'm just flabergasted that anyone is still this nice in the world. I'm a little thrilled that he walks into the arena with me and asks where I want to sit. He's going to sit with me too!?!? I just can't believe it! We find a place to sit but we still have just a little less than an hour until the meeting is supposed to start so we start getting to know each other asking questions about where each other grew up and how big our families are, until the meeting startes.
After the meeting, which was amazing by the way, we make our way out of the Marriott Center and try to find and officer or the first aid station they told us would be able to radio in that I needed a squad car to come and slim jim the lock. We can't find either. We decide to go out side and look for one possibly directing traffic. No luck there either. About this time a friend from my ward, Dave, sees me and says hello. He finds out that I didn't know Taylor before any of this happend and I think he's thinking "I don't want to leave Amanda with someone she doesn't know if she is stranded and needs a ride home" especially since he doesn't know that I've already informed Taylor of what complex I live in and he's been there with me! So Dave is hanging around and I now really expect Taylor to be like "Well here's a guy she knows maybe I should just go now." But he doesn't!
Just then we see an officer and Taylor flags him down and lets him know my situation. The cop radios it in for me and tells me to go wait by a certain stop sign for the car get there. We go and we wait. When the squad car shows up Dave finally decides that I'm in safe enough hands that he can leave. Taylor stays. The officer tries the slim jim, a bit larger tool and then a huge rod that he has to put into my car and hit the electric unlock button on the passenger side door to finally get it unlocked. I open the door and lean in to make sure is starts (the battery was on the whole time after all). IT DOES! Thank heavens for small miracles.
The officer gets back in his car and is getting ready to leave. I turn to Taylor and thank him for being SO extremely kind! He says "No Problem" gives me a hug and turns to head back to his car. So maybe it's the fact that he's from South Carolina and has therefore been taught to have "Southern Hospitality" or maybe he thought I was cute, or maybe he was just super nice. Which ever it was I was SO very thankful to have found him today. Most people would have offered me their phone and then headed right into the meeting without a second thought. He made sure I was ok the entire time until I was back in my running car! So thank you Taylor! May we all strive to be a little more like him the next time a stranger with a problem we can help solve comes our way. (Now if only he had asked for my number!!!)

Moving Day is Fast Aproaching!

Well here it is! Kortney and I put a deposit down on it today! My room is the smaller one but it is still bigger than what I have now. I'm really looking forward to that walk in closet!!! It's super cute and in a quite neighborhood. It has vaulted ceilings and is pretty much just amazing. The complex is called Southgate and it is in Sandy just down the street from a couple of grocery stores and a movie theater. It's also only about two miles away from my dear friend Amy.... If she decides to stay where she is. Our unit unfortunately does not have a fire place but we are ok with that because then we don't have to pay the extra gas it takes to run it and we have more room in our front room. We take posession no later than the 4th of April so it's coming up quickly. I don't have to be out of my Provo place until the 24th of April though so I have time to get all of my ducks in a row before they all have to be relocated!

"I want my cheerios in bulk!"

Moving day is getting closer and closer. I still don't have an apartment. The girl I'm moving with, Kortney and I are going to look at some more properties tomorrow morning. So by tomorrow night I might have an answer. We've decided to move to a two bedroom rather than try to find a random roommate online. I flew home last weekend to go through and decide what furniture would be moving to a new home and what would be staying behind. I'm excited to finally have my blue chair from my bedroom at home again. While I was home I went to Disneyland again. Added a new pair of mouse ears to my collection. This pair has mickey on them and says "I never want to grow up." I thought it was fitting. Brandee's mom, Alice, her friend (and landlord) Linda and Anibal's Mom and stepdad, Uncle Rick went with Brandee, Anibal and I to the Magic Kingdom. Ron was supposed to go with us but he fell the night before and broke his sholder. I think that everyone that went with us was relieved to be somewhere where the stress was a little bit eased. It was one of the most croweded days at Disneyland I have ever had though. Surprising for the middle of March. I think it was even more crowed than when I went with my sister last July! When I know exactly where and when I am moving I will let you all know. I guess I'll end of there.
(Amy, I used the title anyway, even though the post wasn't about the hostage situation in Costco we were invisioning. I guess it was closed because of a freon leak from one of the refridgeration units.)

NEW APARTMENT!!!

So I'm looking into moving to Sandy in April (YAY!!! Out of Happy Valley!!!), and this is one of the apartments I'm seriously considering. The price is very reasonable considering the amenities and I'm looking forward to having my own place where I will have my own things around me and be more in control of who lives with me. So right now I'm just looking for two girls to rent the other rooms to and then I'm going to go for it! Keep me in your prayers that this works out!

Skiing!!!

Last weekend I went skiing for the first time in 12 years!! I think considering that, I did very well. I only went down green slopes but It was quite fun. I wasn't even that scared when I went off a cliff! That's right, I got overly confident on my third time down the mountain and was going WAY to fast for my skill level. I got to a sharp turn and I just knew that I wasn't going to make that turn. So I tried to make myself fall before I got to the edge... That just made me go off the edge butt first instead of head first (really probably safer, because then the tree that stopped me from going all the way down the mountain could cradle me instead of kill me). It was quite amusing being stuck there. Luckily I went off the cliff maybe forty feet from the Snowbasin Ski team (who were all about 11) and all VERY eager to help! One of my skis was stuck between the mountain and the tree in an awkward angle so they couldn't get it off alone, one of their instructors had to come and help get it off. then it was up to me to climb the crumbling slope of snow back to the slope. That was really the scariest part because I thought I wasn't going to get back up when the snow kept pushing me farther down, but I used the tree as footing and made it up unscathed. Sure my addrenaline was pumping fast and that made me a little shaky but I got right back up on my skis and kept on going! I was so proud of myself! I'm way excited for my sister-in-law, Janet's birthday ski get together on the 7th of March because I am SO ready to get back up there and ski some more! This time I'll be back at Brighton where I've skiied more than anywhere else in my life! Now I've just got to find a cheap lift ticket!

Tubing

My sister invited me up to spend last weekend with her and her family so we could celebrate my birthday a few days late. We made plans to go tubing (down a snow covered hill not behind a boat). I've been tubing before so I was super excited to go. There was just one little snag in our plans, it was RAINING!!! that's right the middle of January in Park City Utah and it doesn't have the decency to snow instead of raining! Well we went anyway, even if the rain turned the snow to slush and made all the tubes go super slow and stop before the end of the hill. Also we were drenched before the two hours we paid for were up. I was wearing waterproof snow clothes but even they weren't enough! OK so I stayed mainly dry except for my coat that decided not to be water proof on one elbow and my boots didn't stay dry as long as the should have so my feet were sopping by the time we left. All and all it was a really fun day. Even if the kids wanted to go inside and get dry after about 45 minutes. When we were all done and went home to get dry we went out to dinner for my birthday. We were going to go to the Texas Roadhouse (which is amazing) but the wait for a table for 9 was more than 2 hours! So we got back in the car, went to Chili's and were done with our meal before we would have been seated at the Roadhouse. when there are 4 little kids to think about you can't wait 2 hours for food! But it was still a really good meal. I love my sister and how she spoils me when I go to visit her!

Obsessed

I'm obsessed. I am in love with a song and I can't stop replaying it. Every other song I listen to I wish it was one song. This song:

"Everything" by Michael Buble

You're a falling star, You're the get away car.
You're the line in the sand when I go too far.
You're the swimming pool, on an August day.
And you're the perfect thing to say.

And you play it coy, but it's kinda cute.
Ah, When you smile at me you know exactly what you do.
Baby don't pretend, that you don't know it's true.
Cause you can see it when I look at you.

[Chorus:]
And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, You make me sing.
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.

You're a carousel, you're a wishing well,
And you light me up, when you ring my bell.
You're a mystery, you're from outer space,
You're every minute of my everyday.

And I can't believe, uh that I'm your man,
And I get to kiss you baby just because I can.
Whatever comes our way, ah we'll see it through,
And you know that's what our love can do.

[Chorus:]
And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, You make me sing
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.

So, La, La, La, La, La, La, La
So, La, La, La, La, La, La, La

[Chorus:]
And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, You make me sing.
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.
You're every song, and I sing along.
'Cause you're my everything.
Yeah, yeah

So, La, La, La, La, La, La, La
So, La, La, La, La, La, La, La, La, La, La, La

Space Mountain Breakdown

So have you ever wondered what the inside of Space Mountain looks like? I always did. But I don't have to anymore. When I was at Disneyland on Monday we were on Space Mountain when it broke down! We were actually about to head into the last turn with the ride stopped. Apparently they had too many cars at the station so they had to stop the ride to keep from the next car (us) from running into the last one at the station. I think this might have had something to do with our car being the Handicap car that they put onto the tracks without taking any off. Once they got a car out of the station they had to come around and push start all of the cars to get them going again. When we got back to the station they turned the lights back off and sent us around again. It was amazing. I can now tell everyone I have been into Space Mountain with the lights on. I even have pictures!

Twenty-four

So as many of you know, Tuesday was my birthday. I am now as many years old as there are hours in a day. To celebrate such an eventful birthday I flew down to LA to spend it with my family/friends. We went to Disneyland on Monday and then again on Tuesday. Disneyland is doing this thing where you get into one of there parks for free on you birthday but if you have an annual pass (see below) you get a "Fun Card" with the price of a one park one day ticket (also known as $69). The Fun Card has to be spent on Merchandise and not Food but it's really awesome because basically you have an excuse to buy yourself an awesome birthday present. On Monday I went with my Mom, my sister Andrea, Brandee and her boyfriend Anibal. Tuesday I was supposed to go with another friend who has the same birthday but she ended up having to go to work and couldn't make it. I was kind of bummed when I thought I was going to have to go alone but Brandee asked her boss if she could have the day off and he said yes. I was SO happy not to have to spend my birthday alone.

2009: The Year of the Mouse

Christmas Present to myself: Disneyland Resort Annual Passport. What does this mean? That I have admission to Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure everyday I want to go until December 30, 2009. With that present to myself I rang in the New Year at the Happiest place on Earth. I LOVE Disneyland! I could spend everyday there.... My feet would protest and I would get pretty tired but I would not get tired of riding Pirates or knowing every word on the tour of the Haunted Mansion (regular or Holiday). I am so excited to use my pass again, so if you want a Disneyland partner just let me know!!!!
