What to do on a stay-cation?

Last Thursday I was "sick" (OK I really WAS feeling a little under the weather) but mainly the weather outside was just TOO good not to enjoy. Also, I felt after working 68 hours the week before and only getting a one day weekend that it would be, uhm, not the end of the world if I missed one day of work... So I called in sick. Amy has Thursdays off as well so we decided it was play day! What did we do with our stay-cation? Better question - what didn't we do? So here are a list of things I recommend trying to squeeze into one of your days off (see if you can be as amazing as Amy and myself).

1. Go to the temple (you can get a lot done with a day when you start it off at 7:30 in the temple!) We have actually made this a weekly thing (at least we try our hardest).
2. Go out to breakfast - Amy and I went to Denny's this particular day but usually our Thursday mornings are a little more rushed so we settle for something like McDonalds .
3. Go home and relax/make yourself presentable and cute for a day off in the sun.
4. Visit the CUTEST fabric store known to man. I seriously am in love with this place now, Thank you Amy for having amazing ideas of things to do. Also, while at said cutest fabric store ever, buy cute fabric and a pattern to make Amazingly Awesome Ataches (I don't know if that's spelled right but I needed to go with the alliteration even if they really are purses). I am so excited about said purses! Don't worry you'll see them when they are finished!
5. Spend at least half and hour in a crazy random store (we chose Zurchers which is a party store). We each walked away with a 68 cent bottle of bubbles to play with.
6. SHOE SHOPPING!!! Zurchers happens to be right next door to a DSW and there was NO way we could just leave without even looking. We were good, and walked directly back to the clearance section where Amy proceeded to have every single shoe she tried on fall in love with her. That's right in love with her (she can pull off so many more shoe styles than I can). She however only felt "that way" about two pairs. Much debate went into which pair should be allowed to go home with her. A pair of blue wedges won and joined our happy stay-cation day.
7. Pei Wei!!! YUMMY FOOD!!! For those of you poor deprived souls who don't live close enough to visit one of these, let me just say this: Pei Wei is owned by P. F. Changs, has most of the same food, and is about half the price and much faster.
8. Luckily, we were smart enough to get our Yummy Chinese food to go because that way we got to have a picnic in the park where we enjoyed our meal, the sun, and the three fourtune cookies each we managed to snake out of the deal! There was a rather amusing story connected to the location of our picnic but I know that Amy wants to blog about that so I'll let her and just leave you with the best quote of the day that none of you will even understand: "What are they doing?" There, you all are now so currious to know that they were doing that you'll hound Amy to blog just as much as I always do.
9. After lunch Amy basked in the glorious sun we've been missing for the many long dreary months that are the Utah winter, while I flew my very own $1 Buzz Lightyear Kite!!!! It was amazing even if it didn't work very well because it wasn't that windy. Amy mostly laughed at me because it barely flew above my head but at one point I got it all the way to the end of the string to which it was attached before it came crashing down to the earth. We also played with our extremely worth it bubbles purchase.
10. SIDEWALK CHALK!!! The park also offered a good lo-cal to express ourselves artistically. I drew random things like islands and fish while Amy showed some true skill with an Elephant who was in love with a Ewe. We used some bright colors and got some color while we were at it.
11. Lisence Plates. I got my plates for my car in the mail like two weeks ago and I had been meaning to put them on. A day off is the perfect time, so I did, and now my car is official!
12. Uhm... more shoe shopping? That's right. So we took a couple hours break and Amy was still in love with that second pair of shoes (black heels that were a black and white fabric ribbon bow at the tows) plus she had convinced Aunt Lynn that these shose were much needed addition to a foot wardrobe, so we went back and bought them (or rather, Lynn bought them). I was being good and I didn't even bring my wallet inside with me, when a pair of lonely brown heels called out to me from their shelf... They wanted to be loved and I really wanted to provide that love. So even though I wasn't supposed to go out to the car no matter what, I did. My only defense? They were on Clearance of 50% off of an already low price...
13. Be thankful that you didn't spend any more money than you did, go home and enjoy the rest of the evening, because you have to go to work tomorrow.

Okay I am really slow, but I just now saw this. Sounds super fun! I wish I could have been there to hang out with you guys... but then of course there would have been a couple of "wait in the car for an hour, being absolutely quiet for naptime"s, and maybe an "emergency baby clothes purchase"... yup. :)
