Mr. Mad Scientist

Last Friday (the 4th) Linds and I went to visit Jason at work. Doesn't he just look like he belongs in a lab? I think it's funny that the pictures he is in with us he wears the lab coat and has the goggles handy but the one of him actually working with chemicals they are absent. Jason, I don't know if Linds likes thinking of you using all those dangerous chemicals without protection.

Happy New Year!

Well I guess I got a head start on the age old new year's resolution to drop a few pounds.... on January second I got the stomach flu.... sure helped me out of some of the holiday weight. Ok, all kidding aside, this year is only 3 days old and It has already seen ups and downs. Like having a blast hanging out with friends on New Year's Day and then waking up early the next morning so sick I thought I was going to die (or at least I wished I would but was afraid I wouldn't). I got so dehydrated that i was dizzy every time I moved and my kidneys were killing me. But thanks to finally being able to hold something down, and Ashley's gift of Gatorade and crackers I pulled through the second day of January and made it to the third. I was still feeling rather ill (and my fever hadn't broken till that morning) so I called off work and spent the day in bed again, except that I made an appointment to get a new eye prescription. So I went to Lenscrafters to have my appointment and get new contacts/glasses. I can't believe how much I wasn't seeing! The change in my prescription is so much that wearing the new lenses still feels a little weird. It was supposed to take and hour to get my glasses made so I went down to bath and body works to look around their big sale and by the time I was done there (maybe ten minutes) I was so wiped out all I wanted was to find someplace to sit! I cannot believe how much throwing up and not eating can suck so much out of you for so long! I don't know how all the super models do it! Also on the third of January, I moved on to semi solid food -- I had soup! ( I guess crackers are solid but they don't count as food). Oh and my new battery for my camera came in the mail (did I mention that the four month old battery of my new camera died and would not recharge? Yeah, I'm still bitter about that). I am so excited to be able to take pictures again. Maybe I'll take one of me in my new cute glasses. So I am supposed to be back at work already but due to my illness I could not go back when I was supposed to... The fourth (I guess that's later today) should be my first day back, but because of how weak I still feel even after just fifteen minutes of walking in the mall, and not entirely back on real food I just don't think I can do it yet. I will definitely go Monday but I think I need just one more day of sickness.

Merry Christmas!! a few days late.

Merry Christmas Everyone! The past week has been really crazy. I went to Vegas with some friends last Thursday (thank heavens we left when we did or we would have hit a LOT of snow). Geordan, Tyler, Josh and I stayed at the Stratosphere on the strip. About half an hour after we got there (so about 10:30 local time) we hit the strip with what should have been walking shoes on... Did you know that from where the Stratosphere is to the Excalibur is at least three miles! Oh wow, was I more than happy to take the bus back to the hotel for the cheep fare of only two dollars a person (a cab for the same trip would have cost us about twenty bucks!). Friday we slept in and then went to hit the hot tub which is eight flights up and outside in some of the coldest windiest weather Vegas has had in a long time. The rest of Friday was spent window shopping and sight seeing. But what made the trip the most amazing thing ever was the tickets we got last minute to the Pioneer Bowl game BYU vs. UCLA. Oh man, I'll tell you I haven't been that cold in a long time but every second of it was worth it to see that last UCLA kick blocked by BYU and hear the, what had become a very quite subdued stadium erupt with screams and whoops and hollers that have my ears still ringing several days later. So after my Vegas vacation it was time to head on out to LA (BYU pride showing, sorry Bruins can't help rubbing it in a bit) for a nice Christmas vacation. It was nice to spend the Holiday with family and get to just relax for a while. I've been working and playing pretty hard lately and I can tell I needed a little down time just to unwind. But now I've had my break and on Saturday I am heading back to Utah (bringing the family in tow) for the new year. My brother is getting married in two weeks up there and we have some last minute things to get ready for and just make sure all is well before the big day. I hope you all had amazing Holidays like I did!

ups and downs.

I had a good weekend... and I think Karma is trying to even the score and the week has been worse that normal. Friday night I went out with a guy from the ward and I had a really good time. We went and saw "I am Legend" which is one of the scariest movies I have seen in a VERY long time, if ever. Unfortunately the guy got food poisoning and was feeling terrible by the end of the night. Saturday I met my sister Chandra at the Gateway in Salt Lake City for lunch and then did a little Christmas shopping before heading back to Happy valley for a Christmas party and then met up with my ward to go to Temple Square and see the lights. I drove up with Brooke Rachel and Janeen and on the way home we stopped for an 11 o'clock breakfast and I think we were all a little giddy tired, we spent a good half hour laughing our heads off about spilled water. Sunday was pretty good as well besides the constant pain in the rear that a broken coccyx brings. But by Sunday evening i was feeling very sick. Monday I stayed home from work because I felt so crummy. Having a cold always stinks but that's not what made me feel so aggravated. Apparently technology hates me. My camera battery that is only three months old won't charge and my ipod went missing and my phone never charges and my car tire is trying to go flat and my car needs an oil change and I don't have ANY time to get it changed before I have to leave for Vegas on Thursday after work. Oh by the way.... I am going to Vegas for a few days before heading home. I am so excited!! I am going with some friends from my ward.

Coccyx.... That word just looks funny.

I went sledding... as you all already know. (I'm apologizing to begin with because I took a muscle relaxer an hour ago) So while I was sledding the dismount that earned me a ten or shortly before that, I landed on my rear portions... ok my butt, and I broke my tail bone!!! Can you believe it!?! I hurts SO badly. But they can't really do anything for a broken coccyx except they are sending me to physical therapy. Don't ask me what they will do at PT for a tail bone.... rub my butt? LOL...

Slidding Away

Jason, Lindsay and I went sledding Saturday night. After about 6 inches of snow Linds and I decided we HAD to get out into it. We headed up to Rock Canyon Park with as many layers as we could find and our trusty cardboard boxes. Shortly after we arrived, however, we discovered that it was the wrong type of snow for cardboard to work! We were disappointed but eager to have as much fun as we could. About 10 minutes after we started a little boy came up to us with a sled and said "My mom said it would be OK if you used my sled instead of wet cardboard." Bless his little heart (and his mom's big one)! We had a lot more fun on the real sled but only had one! Jason volunteered to go get us sleds at Target but we had to promise not to be cold and worn out when he got back. While he was gone Linds and I had some fun sledding but after a while the kid came for his sled back and we went down by the parking lot and made a snowman! I had never really made an "official" snowman before (you know, one with a face and buttons and even a scarf). I was so much fun! When Jason got back we moved to the steeper hills and had a LOT of fun on our new sleds (well saucer and sliding mats). I think I got the 10 point dismount though when I hit a bump and went head over heels down the rest of the hill landing on my neck and cracking it in three places then hitting my tail bone HARD. I am so sore today but it was definitely worth it! When we were all soaked (well really I got the wettest because I was the only one with out ski pants on) we came back to my apartment and had hot coco and watch a Christmas movie. Saturday was one of the best days I've had in a very long time. I was so HAPPY!
This is me stuck in the sled after pulling most of the snow down the hill with me. It was really wet under the snow so it would all just slip off the grass underneath even though there was a good 6 inches up there.
Lindsay an our snowman! Isn't he handsome? He even has curly blond hair! It's OK that our snowman wore my pink scarf right?

Christmas Tree!!!

Yesterday I got a Christmas tree! It really doesn't feel like Christmas until you have a tree. Linds helped me decorate it and it turned out really cute. When Kortney and I wen to pick it up it wasn't snowing and by the time we got it home it was covered but nothing like two hours later when it was a good 5 inches deep! White Christmas anyone?
